Annual Saks Franchisee Conference Held In Lisbon

In celebration of 40 years of Saks, a leading UK hair and beauty salon group, treated its franchisees and Saks Awards winners to an action-packed weekend in Lisbon, from March 9-12, 2014.

Over 70 Saks franchisees, salon staff, HQ people and leading suppliers jetted out for an amazing adventure in the magical city of Lisbon, based at the achingly elegant Tivoli Lisboa hotel in the heart of the city.

The main activity of the trip was ‘The Apprentice Challenge’ with teams pitching to show the Big Boss and his Advisors that they had exactly what it takes to succeed in bringing a brand-new business – offering some of Portugal’s most famous products – to the UK market. Everyone rose to the challenge wholeheartedly and the action played out on the beautiful cobbled streets of one of the oldest cities of the world. It was all about finding out who does what best, using strengths and skills to best advantage, nurturing and empowering the quieter ones and embracing working as part of a new team.

The winning team achieved marketing magic to hear the words ‘you’re hired’ with their perfect pitch to develop and reposition Portugal’s famous alcoholic beverages to target a younger market in the UK.

Huge congratulations go out to the dynamic team of ‘Seven Deadly Sins’: Tina Rook – Head of Saks Apprenticeships, Tanya Flynn - Saks Dundee, Paul Carrigan and Karen Williams – Saks Leeds, Jodie Brook and John Goddard – Saks Skipton and Helen Gee – Towergate Insurance.

A flawlessly planned itinerary also left plenty of time for everyone to relax, soak up the sunny atmosphere, sightsee… and get glam to party too of course.

Stephen Kee, Managing Director at Saks, said: “We always get a great response from our conferences but Portugal has exceeded all expectations. This year is a huge 40th year celebration for us all and due to our expansion plans we’ve got quite a few new people in our network too.

Ked continued: “Portugal was a perfect opportunity to show our new colleagues exactly what makes Saks special – they got a real flavour of what being part of our network brings. We also took our Saks Awards winners this time as it’s equally important to reward our superstars too.”

A great start to a year-long celebration of 40 years of Saks for this great British brand that keeps on doing the business. Sponsors – Cosmedix, Elemis, ghd, Kérastase, L'Oréal, Redken, Saksessories, Towergate and Xen-Tan.
