Domino's Pizza Elevates Partnership With NME Awards
Domino’s Pizza is set to grab an even bigger slice of the action this year, as it evolves its three year relationship with the NME Awards to become an official brand sponsor of NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas.
Taking place at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on 26 February, this year’s prestigious awards ceremony will see the hottest new bands, cult heroes and rock legends be honoured across 22 different categories voted for by its readers. Domino’s is sponsoring the Best Music Video category, which includes nominations for Arctic Monkeys, Pharrell, Arcade Fire, Lily Allen, Seagulls and Haim.
As at previous NME Awards, Domino’s will be feeding hundreds of hungry revellers and rock gods piles of pizza throughout the night. This year will see the team carefully coordinate their biggest military-style Domino’s pizza delivery yet – a mammoth order of 500 large pizzas freshly handmade in local stores and hand delivered to over 730 VIP table guests, 50 media and photographers and 150 backstage production crew. Plus they will be dishing out a few free slices to famished fans queuing outside the venue.
This year Domino’s will also have exclusive access at the Awards and will be reporting live via the official Domino’s Pizza UK Facebook and Twitter page with the latest news, views, nominations, pictures, videos and gossip throughout the night.
In addition to sponsoring the annual awards ceremony, Domino’s is an official partner for the London-based NME Awards Shows 2014 with Austin, Texas and NME Awards Tour 2014, with Austin, Texas, taking place between February and March in major cities across the UK. Headline performances include Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Interpol, Phoenix, Swim Deep, The Strypes, Temples, Royal Blood and Circa Waves. The pizza brand will be giving away tickets to the annual award show and regional tour on the Domino’s Pizza UK Facebook and Twitter page.
As part of the sponsorship deal, Domino’s branding will feature on all NME Awards 2014promotional materials and supported by a series of MPUs and banners on NME.com. The campaign will also feature on the official Domino’s UK blog.
The supporting campaign has been developed by LightBrigade PR, Iris Worldwide and Arena Media and overseen by Nick Dutch, Head of Digital at Domino’s Pizza Group.
Dutch added: “It’s no mean feat to deliver 500 pizzas to almost 1,000 punters in just a few hours, but we’re ready to rock and roll! After three years with the awards and delivering pizza to the likes of Ronnie Wood, Liam Gallagher and Alex Turner, it’s time to turn the volume up. We’re chuffed to become an official brand partner as it opens up a host of exciting opportunities. The greatest rockers and the greatest pizza – it’s a no brainer.”
