Driver Hire Celebrates Franchisee Success At Winter Conference

‘Franchisees of the Year’, Paul and Shirley McKenna collect their award from Driver Hire’s Chief Executive, Chris Chidley (centre) Leading recruitment franchisor, Driver Hire, marked the achievements of its top performing franchisees at its recent Winter Conference, held in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

The top award for ‘Franchise of the Year’ went to Paul and Shirley McKenna. Paul and Shirley have worked at Driver Hire’s Leicester office for the past 19 years, buying it from their boss in 2005. Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength, increasing turnover by half a million in the last year alone, while expanding the training side of their business too. Since 2010 they’ve trained over 400 drivers and delivered 7,950 hours of essential Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) training.

Gary Riches (Driver Hire Colchester) continued his outstanding year. Already a ‘’ national award winner in 2013, Gary and his team added to that by collecting Driver Hire’s ‘New Start of the Year’ trophy.

Other successful franchisees included Vinod and Varsha Thakrar (Bristol) whose office attracted high levels of new customers and increased turnover by 50%, earning them the David Walter Memorial Salver award. The Lawn Rose Bowl (for Endeavour) went to Diane Maxwell at Belfast. She’s enjoyed a highly successful year whilst building a new team and winning back customer confidence following the departure of the previous managers of the business.

The Training award went to Nic Chaviaris and his team at Driver Hire Gatwick. Over the past year they’ve actively marketed their Driver CPC training offering – with some impressive results. They doubled the number of courses they ran, enabling them to ensure that over 400 drivers are well on their way to meeting their 2014 deadline.

The individual award for ‘Recruitment Consultant of the Year’ went to Rhian Hill at Driver Hire Bristol.

As well as talking network business, the Conference also provided an opportunity for franchisees and head office staff to socialise whilst raising money for the Driver Hire Benevolent Fund. An auction and raffle raised a highly impressive £3,700 for this worthy cause.

The awards were presented by Driver Hire’s Chief Executive, Chris Chidley. Commenting on their achievements he said: “It’s great to be able to celebrate the success of Driver Hire franchisees. In fact it’s been a brilliant year for the network as a whole with trading well ahead of 2012/13. We are currently celebrating our 30th year in business. This, in itself, speaks volumes about our business model. Our outstanding trading performance is further proof of the value offered by a Driver Hire franchise.”

The Driver Hire network mainly provides temporary and permanent drivers and other logistics staff to local and national organisations in both the public and private sector. If they’re short of staff – perhaps because of illness, holidays or seasonal demand – Driver Hire will supply them with a suitable replacement.
