Franchisees Help to Determine UK’s Best Franchisors 2013
Following feedback from over 2,000 franchisees, Smith & Henderson is proud to announce the winners of The 2013 Best Franchise Awards, supported by Lloyds Bank.
Franchisees were invited to provide anonymous feedback about their franchise ownership experience and rate the training and support provided by their franchisor. The top franchisors were then shortlisted for The 2013 Best Franchise Awards and interviewed by a judging panel headed by Richard Holden, Head of Franchising at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
There are three categories and the winners are highlighted below:
Best Growing Franchisor* Cloud Bookkeeping – WINNER * Open to franchisors with 8-20 franchisees in the UK
Best Training & Support TaxAssist Accountants - WINNER
Best Overall Franchise Home Instead Senior Care – WINNER TaxAssist Accountants – RUNNER UP
The winners were announced on Thursday 5th December at The Best Franchise Conference in Birmingham. This included nine best practice seminars designed to help franchisors improve their support, franchise systems and network performance.
Commenting on winning Best Overall Franchise, Martin Jones, COO at Home Instead said: “We are delighted to be the recipients of this award and to be acknowledged as industry leaders, especially as these awards are based on the satisfaction feedback from our franchisees combined with the opinion of the expert panel of judges. At Home Instead we understand the value of our teams, both at national office and those in our franchise offices, working together supporting each other in making Home Instead such a success story.”
Richard Holden, Head of Franchising at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “The entrants to this year’s Best Franchise Awards were exceptionally strong and the finalists really are the cream of UK franchising. It came as no surprise to me and my fellow judges that the brands which presented at the judging day are so successful, which is largely down to the focus they provide in supporting and nurturing their franchisees. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners who have demonstrated why franchising can be an exceptionally successful development model. Lloyds Bank is proud to support the Best Franchise Awards 2013 and demonstrate our own commitment to supporting quality franchise brands and the franchisees that invest in them.”
5 Star Franchisee Satisfaction Smith & Henderson also announced a new initiative called 5 Star Franchisee Satisfaction, which was awarded to franchisors that participated in the benchmarking programme and received above average feedback across all five areas measured: • Training & Support • Franchise System • Culture & Relationships • Leadership & Stewardship • General Satisfaction
Less than one in five franchisors that participated in the programme were awarded this special recognition: • ActionCOACH • Helen O’Grady • Home Instead Senior Care • Little Kickers • McDonald’s Restaurants • Music Bugs • Platinum Property Partners • Puddle Ducks • Tatty Bumpkin • TaxAssist Accountants
Steven Frost, Partner, Smith & Henderson, which coordinates the programme, said: “With hundreds of franchisors all shouting about the quality of their support and franchise system, it’s difficult for prospective franchisees to determine what are the very best franchise opportunities. 5 Star Franchisee Satisfaction will improve transparency across the industry and help outstanding franchisors like that ones we’ve objectively recognised, stand out from the crowd. It will help prospective franchisees to make better informed investment decisions.”
