Franchising opportunity with Auntie Anne’s Pretzels

Stephen Downey was attracted to the franchise business by the Auntie Anne’s Pretzels idea of selling freshly baked products on the premises. Stephens reveals that he really liked the product and was aware of the brand, because he came across Auntie Anne’s Pretzels during frequent tours to the USA.

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels sells hot and cold beverages and a mixture of savoury and sweet pretzels from kiosks and stores. Stephen launched his franchise in June 2008 in Belfast and the brand was brilliantly received. Stephen had two types of consumers, those that are new consumers and those that have travelled and know about the brand.

Before joining Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Stephen was familiar with operating a franchise business, but this franchise appealed to him because of its transparency and openness. Auntie Anne’s Pretzels is open when dealing with both their franchise and their customers. This was important to Stephen.

In 1989, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels launched its first franchise in the USA and has now expanded to over 300 franchises and has approximately 900 locations all over the world. In the year 2003, the company launched its first UK outlet and now has eight locations all over the country. Max Burton, Director of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels stated that they have six franchises in the UK and eight operating locations.
