Hit the “Streat” to make it big

Irish café, the Streat, has decided to expand and the responsibility of this has been entrusted to its two Scottish Master Franchisees.

Streat café was established by the husband-wife duo, Michael and Nikki McQuillan, in Belfast and with the help of its award winning training and excellent business model, has now managed to develop a network of 30 cafés throughout Ireland.

Gerry Carey and John Belardo who launched their Glasgow-based Regional Development office in February and will open their first sub-franchised cafe during summer; have had prior experience in the hospitality sector, especially Gerry who was the former Retail Operations Director of Rangers FC.

Investing in a franchise was not what Gerry had planned but when opportunity knocked in the form of a Streat café’ franchise, Gerry’s gut instinct led him to invest and he is now reaping the benefits.

With the four week intensive training and excellent support system provided by the experienced franchisor, Gerry and John could set up the Scottish operation.

Gerry, however, says that just the backup and support of your franchisor is not enough. Hard work and diligence is the key and especially so when building a business and recruiting franchisees. The fact that you are doing everything for your own profit inculcates a sense of responsibility which itself makes you work hard and with the variety of work every day, you can be assured of a busy and exciting day.

The best part about having your own franchise is the flexibility provided in terms of working hours and now you can spend quality time with family and friends without having to compromise on your work.
