Make A Splash With Baby Swimmers

A unique opportunity for parents to see their young babies swimming underwater has been created by a Gateforth woman who has set up her own classes. Baby Swimmers are now actively seeking new franchise owners to help extend their network throughout the whole of the UK.

Baby swimmers was established by Tracie Margo, after attending similar classes with her own children – two year old Milly and Charlie, nine months old. Tracie, 37, said: “Research has shown early swimming can benefit your baby by helping to develop water confidence, strength, co-ordination and alertness, while also learning water safety and having fun.”

Tracie started teaching children swimming in America in 1989, then went on to become a personal financial manager having attained a BA Honours Degree. She is an Amateur Swimming Association teacher and Swimming Teacher Association Baby and Pre-School instructor. She also holds the national rescue award for teachers and coaches with the Royal Life Saving Society.

Tracie explained: “Babies are born with a natural reflex to move their arms and legs in the water, and it is also natural for them to hold their breath underwater from birth to about six months old.

Babies can start at Baby Swimmers as soon as parent and baby are ready and happy to do so, and through fun and games, we progressively develop these natural reflexes to encourage voluntary swimming movements in the water, which will build a foundation for your baby to swim unaided.

“Once the baby has completed 10 sessions, both baby and parent will be given the opportunity to have their photo taken underwater.”

Baby Swimmers are currently looking for new enthusiastic people to help expand their network of classes throughout the UK.
