Javits Center Welcomes Premier Annual Franchise Event
Over 400 franchise brands will be exhibiting to the public at the 22nd Annual International Franchise Expo (IFE) - the franchise industry’s premier annual event, sponsored by International Franchise Association (IFA). The three-day show draws tens of thousands of entrepreneurs to the Javits Center in New York City, seeking franchise opportunities. Taking place June 20-22, prospective business owners, the top franchise brands and current franchisees have the rare opportunity to meet face-to-face with one another.
The IFE offers the most comprehensive conference on franchising, including more than 70 free seminars along with serious in-depth symposiums. This is a one of a kind opportunity to meet entrepreneurs from the US and more than 90 countries worldwide.
“The IFE is responsible for the opening of hundreds of small businesses and creating thousands of jobs – and there’s no better place for that to take center stage than New York City,” said Tom Portesy, President of MFV Expositions, producers of the show. “Holding the IFE in New York makes it more accessible to the majority of qualified prospective franchise owners from the US and abroad to get an inside-look at the franchising world.”
A survey of last year’s attendees reported 43 per cent of visitors planned on investing $100,000+, 14 per cent planned on investing $500,000+ and 7 per cent planned on investing over $1 million. The survey also reported that 63 per cent of attendees have owned a business.
Due to the incredible success of 2012’s Expo at the Javits Center, MFV Expositions, the leader in franchise events worldwide, opted to hold this year’s expo at the same location, but change the dates of the show from Friday-Sunday to Thursday-Saturday, to provide more hours of operation to business people visiting the expo. Franchisors eager to expand their concepts in the New York metro area and around the world have found great success using the show as a platform for introducing their brands.
“We were thrilled with the results from exhibiting at the 2012 Expo,” said Tim Courtney, Director of Franchise Development for CruiseOne, Inc., a home-based travel franchise. “The quality of traffic at the IFE was second-to-none. In fact, we awarded six franchise units to the attendees we met. “
The franchise industry is a major contributor to the US economy, employing more than 20 million people and contributing over $2 trillion in economic activity, according to the International Franchise Association.
The IFE is endorsed by the US Department of Commerce and promoted worldwide as part of their International Buyers Program. More than 150 US Embassies through their Foreign Commercial Service Offices actively promote the IFE within their regions and bring official escorted delegations from all around the world to the expo. Over the years, the IFE has been a significant catalyst to the global expansion of franchising.
