Recognition Express helps promote Road Safety Week 2010

The promotional products and personalised clothing franchise, Recognition Express, has confirmed that it is again helping to promote Road Safety Week. It will be running a school competition where children can design a road safety banner.

This year’s Road Safety Week is themed. The theme is to do with getting drivers to drive more carefully around schools and in residential areas. The slogans are ‘kids say slow down’ and ’20 is plenty’.

Open to children from three to 13, there will be 12 regional prizes and each winner will get a full-size version of their banner installed near their school as well as 300 high visibility drawstring bags. The winners will also get a personalised high-vis vest.

The managing director of Recognition Express, Nigel Toplis, said:

“It is such a pleasure to be involved again in this hugely important campaign. It’s tragic to think that every day in this country eight children are killed or seriously injured whilst on foot or cycling. We want to do all we can to raise awareness.”

Road Safety Week is about raising awareness about the dangers of speed in built-up areas where traffic should move at 20mph or slower to ensure the safety of children.
