Hi, my name's Andy Phouli, Chairman of Rush. Rush started 20 years ago, with my business partner Stell Andrew. We had a dream to build a brand that was both creative and very successful business. Our initial goal was to open 12 salons over a 5-year period. We found that we by far excelled that; we now have currently 63 stores, growing to 100 stores in the next 18 months.
I think some of the most memorable moments for me at Rush, was seeing Rush salons going up in locations like Piccadilly, Oxford Street, The Strand. These were locations that hairdressers could not primarily ever get in to.
If you're thinking about owning a franchise, before it works for me, it has to work for you. If it works for you, then I know it's going to work for me. Two key things that you need to run your salon are great team management and great customer service.
How does the process work? Well, initially you will enquire about the franchise, the next stage would be to meet me - we'll sit down, have a chat. We'll see if the brand suits you. Moving on from there, then we start looking for sites. We look for locations that suit you and we feel suit the brand. I've done this many a times, so the choosing of the location falls on my shoulders, I take full responsibility for that.
At that stage, we can then go on to the business planning, the business plans, the modelling, and give you a clear indication of where you are going to go over the next five years, and what you expect to make.
A typical Rush salon can cost you up to £150,000. You initial investment can start from anything from £15,000.
What can you earn out from a Rush franchise? The sky's the limit. As I've said before, as long as the clients keep coming in the door and you're looking after them, salons can take in excess of £1m a year.
We then move on to the training process, from training you, training your stylist, to training your assistants, my education team will then take full control of training your team. My recruitment team will take full control of recruiting the right team members for your salon. Our people are our product and we've got to make sure that we have an excellent product.
We then go on to the opening stage. Once your salon is open, our operations team will come into play and they will train you, they will guide you. The finance team will also look at the figures on a weekly basis and assist you, develop the strengths into bigger strengths, and the weaknesses into strengths.
It has always been my dream to grow this brand into one of the biggest brands in the UK. To do this, we need great people to build on our brand, and great people to run great salons.
