SUBWAY® Launches Muppet-Themed Campaign For Families

Introducing avocado as an additional salad option for a limited time only in SUBWAY® stores. Six exclusive “Muppets Most Wanted” Kids’ Pak™ bags to collect.

The SUBWAY® brand is continuing to appeal to families as a key area for growth, with the brand today launching a seven-week campaign to tie in with the launch of Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted in cinemas across the UK. SUBWAY® stores have created an experience the whole family can enjoy, with the introduction of avocado, two new Sub builds and a range of six limited edition Muppets Most Wanted Kids’ Paks to collect.

Celebrating all things green in honour of Kermit the Frog, SUBWAY® stores are introducing avocado during the campaign as a limited time offer additional salad option while stocks last, which can be added to any existing Sub, flatbread or snacks as well as introducing two new Subs: Turkey Avocado and Chicken Avocado.[i]

The deal was developed by the SUBWAY® brand and Disneymedia+, the integrated ad sales, promotions and marketing solutions arm of Disney UK and Ireland.

The in-store launch is complemented with an above-the-line campaign launching on March 12, with 30-second and 10-second TV ads featuring Muppets characters, Kermit, Miss Piggy and Constantine. Reflecting the themes of mistaken identity and espionage in Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted, the ad sees Constantine impersonate Kermit only for his plot to be foiled when Miss Piggy is presented with the wrong Sub. Print ads and point of purchase showcase the “Most Wanted” Sub of Muppets characters, Kermit, Miss Piggy and Fozzie.

This family-orientated campaign is content-led, offering exclusive Muppets-themed activity, experiences and prizes to SUBWAY® customers. In addition to the six exclusive Muppets Most Wanted Kids’ Paks, in-store standees allow kids (and fun-loving parents) to immerse themselves in the Muppets world and see their face on a ‘Most Wanted’ poster, surrounded by the Muppets cast. The fun continues online, with flash social media competitions to win Muppets prizes as well as never-seen-before behind-the-scenes footage of the cast on the SUBWAY® brand’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels throughout the campaign.

The limited edition Muppets Most Wanted Kids’ Paks will be available in store from 5th March, prior to the film’s release on March 28. The Kids’ Pak™ includes a low-fat 4-inch Sub, Capri Sun Fruit Crush drink and a Bear Pure Fruit Yoyos, giving kids two of their recommended five-a-day, and comes with one of six limited edition collectable Muppets Most Wanted drawstring bags.[ii]

The Muppets are back in a hilarious all-new spy thriller adventure Muppets Most Wanted taking the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, including stops in Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. But mayhem follows them overseas as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine, the World’s Number One Criminal, and dead-ringer for Kermit.
