thebestof Announces National Winner Of Local And Loved Business Campaign
February was a special time for all those in love. It is also a time when loved ones go out of their way to show they care and appreciate those nearest and dearest and that’s what thebestof have been encouraging people to do over the last few weeks in making an extra effort to show how much they love the great businesses in their local area.
The Local & Loved Awards has seen the best businesses across the UK go head to head to earn the title of ‘The Most Loved Business in the UK’. For the 14 days leading up to Valentine’s Day consumers have had the chance to review and vote for their favourite local businesses.
Consumers have now shown their love for great local businesses and tens of thousands of reviews added equating to one every 11 seconds as the contest gained momentum and the UK’s favourite business has finally been crowned.
Big Fry Fish & Chips, a local ‘chippy’ in Farnborough, has claimed the title of the UK’s Most Loved Business in 2014. This accolade is so valuable and it’s not decided by ‘industry experts’, corporate sponsors or an ‘independent judging panel’, it has been awarded this title by the people that use this business regularly. Big Fry Fish and Chips is proof that local business are thriving by providing a service and going the extra mile.
Big Fry’s customers felt compelled to tell the rest of the UK about them and 2524 of them voted and left reviews to ensure they gained the coveted title.
Other ‘loved’ businesses across the UK that also achieved a significant love score are: • Serenity Loves – Peterborough • Thompsons Restaurant & Takeaway – Bury • The Blitz Tea rooms and Jazz Lounge – Kettering • Curley’s Dining Rooms –Bolton
Nigel Botterill, founder of thebestof said: “It’s amazing to see such a huge number of people voting in the Local & Loved campaign. It just goes to show how much local people are supporting their local independent businesses, which is great news for the businesses community across the UK.
"Small businesses are at the heart of our local economies and lots of local business owners – and their loyal staff – are feeling fabulous today because their efforts have been recognised and appreciated by so many of their customers.
"The range of businesses nominated this year was incredible. Our winners included everything from beauty salons, café’s, fancy dress hire and even the local village shop.”
Mark Sullivan, the owner of Big Fry Fish and Chips, said: “We're thrilled to have won such a prestigious award - it's fantastic to be recognised as the UK's most loved business. We're a truly "local" business so to win an award that's voted for by local people makes it that much more special.
