Top 10 Finalists Announced for Biggest Baddest Bucket List

On January 28 2013, My Destination launched a competition with a mission in mind – to find the next global travel superstar. Aside from winning a life-changing, all-expenses paid, six-month round the world trip, based around their own bucket list, the lucky candidate would also be acting as an ambassador and reporter for the brand and their country, earning a sum of US$50,000 for their considerable efforts on completion of their journey.

Over the course of the nine-week entry period, My Destination received an incredible 1,251 submissions from over 640 destinations and more than 110 different countries around the world. Entry submissions (consisting of a blog post, photographs and an original three-minute video by the entrant in which they share their local insights and tips for their destination) received more than 650,000 unique views, representing an incredible amount of up to 32,500 hours of video that has captivated people across the entire planet.

‘‘The response to this campaign has been absolutely incredible. We’ve had entries from almost every corner of the globe and really have seen the full spectrum of humanity portrayed here! There’s been high profile Youtubers from the US, soap opera stars from Europe, expectant mothers, professional models, pensioners and even a few musical prodigies in the making. There have been those who have jumped out of aeroplanes, people getting My Destination tattoos and more than a few entrants getting completely naked on camera - all in a bid to prove that they’ve got what it takes to complete the challenges we’ve got in store for our winner. It’s an overwhelming reaction, but it’s been a hell of a lot of fun,’’ commented Neil Waller, Co-Founder of My Destination.

Now, we are one big step closer to determining the overall winner, and it is time to reveal our shortlist of the Top 10 entrants who will go head to head in the UK on May 18, for a week filled with unique activities and experiences designed to test their mettle. Overlooking the proceedings will be our judging panel of My Destination founders and honorary guest judge, Ben Southall, winner of Queensland Tourism’s Best Job in the World.

It was no easy feat whittling down vthe enormous list of superstars to just ten outstanding entrants, but ultimately, these candidates are those we deemed the most deserving of a place in the final.
