#Duncan Bannatyne pays visit to Razzamataz Theatre School in Carlisle

Duncan Bannatyne of Dragons’ Den visited the Carlisle Razzamataz Theatre School recently. The founder of the franchise, Denise Hutton-Gosney, appeared on the programme three years ago and succeeded in winning investment from Bannatyne.

Since then, Razzamataz has been progressing well. There are now 40 schools in the UK and ‘Razz Xpress’ appears in many of the health clubs that are owned by Bannatyne.

Hutton-Gosney explains the philosophy behind the franchise:

“Building up a child’s confidence and self-esteem is a big part of what we do at Razzamataz. Very early on we decided that the best way to nurture young talent is by bringing in top professionals in their field to work with our students and inspire them to be the very best they can be.”

There have been a number of workshops run by Kylie Minogue’s choreographer, Tim Noble, at Razzamataz schools recently. Hutton Gosney says that making use of performers like Noble keeps it fun and therefore keeps children motivated.

The franchise benefits children by providing life skills as well as offering health benefits. It’s been shown that many skills learnt are transferable, such as team working and self discipline.
