#Profits rise for McDonald’s

McDonald’s has proved that its fast food franchises really do cater to everyone; even in difficult financial times.
The fast food franchise chain has just released statistics relating to its profits. It has announced that it has seen a 12 per cent rise in profits from April to May when compared to last year.

Despite the financially difficult times that most people have faced over the last year, McDonald’s has managed to continue to see their sales rise.

Their net profit was $1.23 billion which was a rise from the $1.1 billion it saw the year before. And revenue went up 5 per cent to $5.95 billion. This profit was actually more than had been expected by analysts.

The statistics related to global like for like sales rose by 4.8 per cent. This statistic did not include the sales from restaurants that had opened in the last year.

Chief Executive Jim Skinner said: ‘McDonald`s second quarter reflects strong top-line and bottom-line results with each area of the world generating higher comparable sales, traffic and profits. As we begin the third quarter, our momentum continues with July global comparable sales trending in-line with or better than second quarter sales’
