##Record-Breaking Driver Hire Beats Market Trend
The build-up to Christmas is proving to be great news for franchisees at Driver Hire, the nationwide specialist transport and logistics recruiter, breaking trading records both here in the UK and in its Australian business too.
The final two weeks in November saw the company achieve all-time record weekly turnover of £2.1m. This was beaten in December’s first week when turnover climbed to £2.2m – 22% ahead of the corresponding week last year. In addition, 12 Driver Hire franchisees set new records for weekly turnover.
There was a similar story from its Australian business, which two weeks earlier, also reported record weekly trading figures, topping AU$260,000 and AU$900,000 for the full month.
“Whilst our current run of excellent trading is partly down to seasonal factors, there’s a definite flight to quality as we’re also gaining market share from our rivals,” said Chris Chidley, Driver Hire’s CEO.
This is backed up by figures in the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) annual report which show that, over the past year, the average number of temporary drivers working on any given day fell by 8%. In comparison, over the same period, Driver Hire’s network turnover grew by 19%.
“All types of businesses – from publicly quoted companies through to smaller local transport operators – are seeking recruitment partners they can rely on. One which will deliver a compliant service and quality drivers,” said Chidley. “Our longevity – now more than 30 years in the recruitment industry – is another key selling point. And of course we offer a number of added-value services including Driver CPC training as well as online licence checking and online training too.”
Driver Hire, which has a nationwide network of over 100 franchised offices, provides temporary and permanent drivers and other logistics staff to businesses and organisations across the UK. They help when customers need extra staff to deal with holidays, illness or business expansion.
